Wake Up: The Kingdom Work Is Still Waiting
🔥 Perhaps the greatest danger facing the Church isn’t that we have lost the mission.
Perhaps we have simply become distracted from it.
We know the language.
We know the Scriptures.
We know what we believe.
But knowing the mission and living the mission are two very different things.
Jesus didn’t call His followers to become spectators.
He called them to follow.
To serve.
To sacrifice.
To make disciples.
To love people.
To carry the Gospel into places where it had not yet been heard.
And following Jesus has never been primarily about preserving our comfort.
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
— Matthew 16:24
🚪 The Door Is Open
Imagine for a moment that your church disappeared from your community tomorrow.
What would your community lose?
Would people miss the programs?
The building?
The Sunday service?
Or would they miss the people who served them?
The mentor who showed up.
The father who invested in young men.
The family that opened its home.
The Christian who cared when nobody else did.
The person who listened.
The person who forgave.
The person who brought hope.
That is Kingdom work.
And Kingdom work requires us to leave the building.
🌎 The world doesn’t need more spectators. It needs disciples.
🛡️ Stop Fighting For Comfort. Start Fighting For Something.
We have become very good at identifying what we are against.
But what are we actually building?
What are we fighting for?
For healthy families.
For truth.
For reconciliation.
For strong communities.
For children who know they are loved.
For men who understand responsibility.
For women who know their worth.
For people who need another chance.
For neighbors who need hope.
For people who have never encountered the love of Christ in a meaningful way.
Paul’s words should challenge us:
“…it is high time to awake out of sleep…”
— Romans 13:11
Wake up.
Not so we can become more outraged.
Not so we can find another enemy.
Not so we can spend another year arguing about culture.
Wake up because there is work to do.
⏰ What Are We Waiting For?
Maybe we are waiting for the perfect political environment.
The perfect church.
The perfect leader.
The perfect opportunity.
The perfect circumstances.
But Jesus didn’t tell His followers to wait until everything was convenient.
He told them to go.
So perhaps the question isn’t:
“When will things get better?”
Perhaps the better question is:
“What am I supposed to do with what God has placed in front of me right now?”
Who needs you?
Who needs encouragement?
Who needs accountability?
Who needs forgiveness?
Who needs a mentor?
Who needs a meal?
Who needs someone to listen?
Who needs to see what authentic Christianity looks like outside the walls of a church?
Those aren’t abstract questions.
Those are opportunities.
🔥 Stay Awake
The Church doesn’t need to become louder simply for the sake of being heard.
It needs to become faithful.
Faithful in our homes.
Faithful in our relationships.
Faithful in our communities.
Faithful in our witness.
Faithful when nobody is watching.
Faithful when obedience costs us something.
Because the Kingdom doesn’t advance through spectators.
It advances through people willing to say:
“Send me.”
So here is the question I want to leave with you:
If Jesus gave you one year to demonstrate that you understood His mission, what would you do differently?
Who would you serve?
What would you surrender?
Where would you go?
Who would you forgive?
Who would you disciple?
What would you stop arguing about?
And what would you finally start doing?
⏰ The alarm is ringing.
The mission is still waiting.
The question is no longer whether there is Kingdom work to be done.
The question is whether we are awake enough to do it.
